Live Streaming from Borgo EX
Sprouting from Borgo EX (Carlentini, Sicily), Radio Sfascio provides an infrastructure to stay in conversation and remain close to each other within a vast network of people and geographies. It appears sporadically and combines archiving with experimental broadcasting from inside and beyond the walls of the Borgo. Through Radio Sfascio we hope to find out if radio can be a tool to foster community, connect peripheries, and host spaces for discussions and sonic encounters of the broader DAAS network.
The physical space of the radio hijacks the former Casa del Fascio in Borgo EX and turns it into a broadcasting studio and listening room. By padding the cold fascist architecture, designed to prevent gathering and lingering, with soft interventions, we turn it into a cozy space that invites warmth, intimacy, and non-productivity. In doing so, we create a counter-infrastructure that challenges both fascist architecture and radio’s historical function as a key vehicle of fascist propaganda.
